Arijana Bohr and Emmanuelle Salin, Center for AI in Medicine members, achieved second place in the international digital pathology competition “DigiLut”. The two-month challenge attracted 256 participants globally and saw 1,202 submissions.

Professor Antoine Roux from Foch Hospital led the DigiLut Challenge, an initiative organized by Foch Hospital in partnership with the Health Data Hub and funded by Banque Publique d’Investissement (Bpifrance). The challenge aimed to detect graft rejection following lung transplantation by developing algorithms to identify pathological zones in digitized transbronchial biopsy slides. Participants worked with a unique image bank of digitized graft biopsies from lung transplant patients at Foch Hospital to determine the presence and severity of graft rejection.

Emmanuelle and Arijana gratefully acknowledge the scientific support and HPC resources provided by the Erlangen National High-Performance Computing Center (NHR@FAU) of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). The hardware is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
